Thirty-seven years ago in Amsterdam the renowned Dutch tenor Justus Bonn was born and during his school days attracted much attention with his singing voice. He was given a special grant by the Amsterdam University when he was 15, to study at the Conservatorium, and during his course the Netherlands Government gave him a further grant to continue his singing. At 17, Bonn was singing over the Hilversum Radio Station and was soon invited to other European cities to give recitals and to perform with their Symphony Orchestras. He later began his operatic career, but when World War II began he was compelled to give it up.
