Many well-known artists came into the public eye through-a film or radio contract, but the Ukrainian baritone Igor Gorin had the unusual experience of being obscure and neglected, then suddenly receiving both a radio and a film contract on the same day. Since then he has recorded extensively and composed many songs, both classical and popular. Igor Gorin will be heard from 3ZB at 10 o'clock this evening. a * tk Phil Regan is a_ popular IrishAmerican tenor, whose rise’ to fame reads like a film story. While he was still a boy, his parents died, leaving him the sole support of a family of five. At the age of 13 he obtamed work as a truck driver, then as chauffeur, and later joined the Police Force. As a guest at a wedding he was asked to sing, was heard by an official of a big broadcasting system, and the next day was offered a contract. Before long he was offered a screen contract and appeared in several pictures. Songs by Phil Regan will be heard from 4ZB at four o’clock. a * Ba At half-past nine this morning 2ZA will present the first in a weekly series called "Out of the Past," featuring recordings by soloists, choral and instrumental groups, which are seldom heard today. This first broadcast will consist of recordings by the Odeon Theatre Orchestra. Y ET
