OO ------ Listeners are becoming more and more aware of Continental artists and many new settlers in N.Z, have heen pleasantly suprised to hear their favourite artists on local programmes. Some of these may be heard from 2ZB at 4.30 today. Hailing from the important New Jersey City of Newark, U.S.A., Alfredo, a well-known light orchestral conductor, was a child prodigy who studied under a favourite pupil of the great Joachim. He made his debut as a soloist at the age of twelve with the local symphony orchestra, After a few years, Alfredé, as vyiolinist in a classical quartet, toured the theatres for two years. He then decided to do a "lone act," and made a distinguished reputation as the Vagabond Violinist, appearing on the stage as a ragged "down and out." 4ZB will present recordings by Alfredo this afternoon at 4 o'clock. "Prophecy," from 2ZA every Monday and Wednesday evening at 10.15, is, as its title suggests, a series of programmes telling the stories of some of the great prophecies which have been made and fulfilled, from the dawn of history to our time.
