COMPETITION FOR COMPOSERS
HE Christchurch Civic Music Council is planning for a Second Festival of Music by New Zealand Composersto be held on Saturday, September 25. Two major items to be included this year are: 1. A secular choral work specially composed and within the technical scope of an amateur choral society; and ~ 2. A sonatina for violin and piano. To secure the best possible presentation, the Council is holding competitions for each of these works; and offering not only substantial prizes, but also the privilege of first public performances under the auspices of the Council.
