Backward Glance

‘HE Royal Tour deserved a backwartd glance, but I question whether the feature The Queen Among Her People quite filled the bill. It seemed to have been put together with little regard for the shape of the finished article-it had a suitable and expected beginning and end, but otherwise skipped from peak to peak with complete disregard for chronology and for listeners’ blood pressure. Certainly it provided a welcome opportunity to relive our moments of high excitement and _ reaffirm our loyalties, but it provided only that. A little more artistry in the telling, perhaps a fresh standpoint, or a different perspective (even if we’d had to wait a day or to longer for it), would have resulted in a better programme.
