Anna Again
ARIETY, the journal of the American entertainment industry, summed it up: "Anna Russell Longhair Takeoffs Wow Audience"-which in a fairly free translation means that Anna Russell’s audience was amused more than somewhat at her parodies of the classics. No need to say, of course, who Anna Russell is, but 1YC’s audience is expected to be wowed when she takes the air at 9.34 p.m. on Monday, February 1, to analyse Wagner's The Ring of the Nibelungs. Mis§ MRussell’s recording company is almost certainly right when it claims that she emerges with ‘some observations "that wil] startle even the erudite." From the moment she introduces .the Rhine Maidens-‘"a sort of aquatic Andrews Sisters"-Miss Russel] is quite at home with her subject. She gives a good deal of attention to an exposé of Siegfried’s relationships with his many aunts-so much, indeed, that ose who don’t know The Ring may be inclined to doubt her word that she’s not "making it up."
