The fascination of the South Pacific Islands is something that only those who have visited these shores can fully appreciate, but even those who haven’t travelled the South Seas can share the enchantment of the music. 3ZB’s programme at five o’clock tonight caters for the tastes of all who enjoy "South Sea Island Melodies." co a a Kathleen | Ferrier, the outstanding British. contralto, who died on October 8 at. the age of 41, did not start her career until 1940. Six years later her operatic debut was made at Glyndebourne, International recognition followed rapidly and she appeared at many of the Edinburgh Festivals until her illness last year. 4ZB will present recordings by Kathleen Ferrier at 4 o'clock. ra * At 10.15 this morning, 2ZA _ will broadcast a further episode of "‘Dinner at Antoine’s," a serial adapted from the book by Frances Parkinson Keyes.
