LATE SNOW
PRING! we had thought, and sought eager-fingered, for weeks now, the fine-haired sun, cherishing in our blood the brass and bright coins of the young morning-a season one . may dream of or write home as wonderful--all resigned suddenly this bitter morning with snowfall, with wind, and the spiteful chitter of a winter bird awake in the awning: and the far rim of the sky-sheer range dressed again in its paintul bridal-gown torbids the blood: don’t sanction readings of strange omens out of your hand by weatherman or old brown prophet: better to go in hope not dreaming what a day brings than be warned and fore-disarrned by the actual shape
burning your world in flames desire has fanned.
