Those Welshmen
How different from his fellows does the Welshman feel and what makes him so? is a question that a New Zealander might have answered with some chagrin in recent weeks. We Are the Welsh, a BBC programme to be heard from 1YA at 8.0 p.m. on Thursday,. December 10, and later from other Nationa] stations, answers it from the Welshman’s point of view. The programme is introduced by Wilfred Thomas, whose father left South Wales | to live in New South Wales, and the Welsh folk taking part recall a childhood in a purely Welsh-speaking home, talk of the chapel as a power in the land, and discuss the old days at the coal face and life in a modern tinplate works. We hear the Welsh singing and hear them in conversation as the natural actors they are. At the end, Dr. Thomas Jones, a former secretary of the British Cabinet and an associate of David Lloyd George, sums up. :
