Royal Occasions
SERIES of talks on previous Royal Visits being heard from 4YA at present gives us some interesting pictures of the. past. The programme is skilfully built up from extracts from the local press at the time of the visits, with what might be regarded as fair comment. The result is a vivid reconstruction ‘of past jubilations, and one, I felt, that was worthy of a more lavish production in
the form of interpolated and characteristic voices for some of the main speakers whose actua] words were quoted. Although Roland Watson’s handling of the script could by no means Be described as inadequate, it was perhaps asking a little too much of one man to be narrator, the voice of the press, the modern commentator, Royalty, Prime Minister, and various local digni-
tories as well.
