The girl on the left is Rosemary Dempsey, who has taken over the Shopping Reporter Session at 1XN Whangarei, in succession to Elizabeth Bauman, now Assistant to the Supervisor of Women's Programmes for the Commercial Division of the NZBS. She was recently transferred from 2XP New Plymouth, and has since been selected as "Miss Taranaki" in the Air Race Queen Contest. A keen Aero Club member, Miss Dempsey has completed three flying lessons. The winner of the Air Race Contest will qualify for a job as an air hostess, hence the "threat to microphone career" pose of the photograph.
