NATIONAL QUIZ KIDS' CONTEST
\V ITH a set of questions that would / _ make many adults wish’ they. had | been more attentive at school, this. year’s national Quiz Kids’ contest starts from ZB stations on Friday, August 14, at 7.0 p.m. The teams (of five) com-, peting in the first round will be those of Christchurch and Dunedin. The following week Auckland and Wellington will contend, and on August 28 the | winning teams from each island wiil match wits in the final. This year’s contest prizes are the same as last year: a £20 order for books for each of the five members of the winning team, and a £5 book order for each member of the runner-up team. The 1952 Quiz Kid champions were the Auckland team, which beat Wellington in the preliminary round and Christchurch in the final. Of the nine questions Auckland: got eight and a_ half correct and Christchurch six and a half. Ages of team members then, as now, ranged from 12 to 16,
