Stained Enamel Bath
Dear Aunt Daisy, Would you answer a question in The Listener for a friend of mine. She has an old enamel bath which is stained a light brown; also where the heater has dripped, it is green. I told her about cream of tartar and’ peroxide but could not remember how long you said it was to be left on. She left it on for about 15 minutes but it did no good. Is there anything else that would do? "A Link," The paste made of cream of tartar and peroxide must be left on as long as possible, until you have to use the bath again. This may be 24 hours, As the stains are old, the process will probably have to be repeated, perhaps two or three times, A good soap powder mixed to a paste with kerosene may be used in the same way.
