Choral Concert

| LISTENERS to 1YA at 8.0 p.m. on Thursday, May 14, will hear the first half of the Royal Auckland Choir’s opening concert of the 1953 season, relayed from the Town Hall. The choir will be conducted by John Longmire (top right), with Alan Pow (top left) at the piano, James Hopkinson, flute, and Raymond R. Wilson, organ. Perhaps the most outstanding events of the evening will be the appearance of the talented young Auckland soprano Mina Foley (left), who will sing Bishop’s "Should He Upbraid," and an ariette from "Mirella," by Gounod; and the performance of a work by the conductor himself. The latter will be the choral hymn "Teach Us, O God," with flute obbligato and tenor descant.
