IT'S OVER TO YOU
HAVE you ever felt that you wanted badly to ask a question of a Goverhment Department or a local authority or to raise publicly some question of general interest? It’s an urge that comes to most of us at some time, and Talkback, which is to begin from 2YZ next week, was devised especially to satisfy it. To be heard for a start once a month Talkback is intended as a platform for listener discussion of public questions. Where there are clearly two sides to a question raised they will both be stated in the same broadcast-for instance, a Government Department which has been asked a question will give the answer, if possible, right away. How do you go about getting into Talkback? If you want to ask a question or state an opinion about local or national public affairs of general interest, just write it out, sign it and post it to the Station Manager, 2YZ, P.O. Box 26, Napier. It is expected that listeners will want to discuss a wide range of questions — including, probably, broadcast pro--grammes-but they are asked to exclude religion and party politics, for which other broadcasting time is available. ‘Contributions should be short-the limit is 250 words-so that as many as possible may be used. Contributors’ names will be broadcast. The first Talkback will be heard at 8.0 p.m. on Wednesday, March 25.
