AN interview with Mrs. Florence Langdon, creator of this pleasant hillside garden at Eastbourne, near Wellington, is one of the programmes in a new Women's Hour series, We Choose a City Garden, currently broadcasting from ZB stations. This colourful garden was literally carved out of a wilderness. Gardening experts from each of the ZB stations have chosen a contribution to the series. George Dean, of Auckland, takes listeners on a tour of Dan Averill's garden at Henderson, a one-fifth acre plot which in seven years has been made s0 attractive that Auckland’s sightseeing buses regularly stop there. D, Combridge, of Christchurch, talks with T. Armstrong about the latter's perfectly-planned quarter acre at Riccarton. Dunedin’s eontribution is the somewhat larger garden of a retired farmer, Mr. Teschner. There is an entire half-acre of rock garden, 3500 plants, and strutting peacocks. We choose a City Garden plays in the Women's Hour from all ZB stations for the next three Mondays.
