Talent Contest
AVE A SHOT, 1ZB’s new Monday night 10 o’clock feature which begins on May 19, is designed to bring new talent to the listener in a variety of guises. Substantial cash prizes are being offered, and anybody with ability to entertain is eligible to have a shot at getting one-or more. Four groups of seven programmes have been arranged, each consisting of six talent contests, the winners of which will try again in the seventh, or semi-final. Winners of. semifinals will, of course, go on to the grand final, which will reveal the best performer of the series, in the opinion of a panel of qualified judges, to whom will go a prize of something like £78. All these programmes will be presented before Radio Theatre audiences, and Doug Laurenson (left) as compere will set the ball rolling. The. method of presentation will be a novel one, but in just what way is being kept a deep secret until the opening performance.
