Exhausting Work
"T FOUND teaching my Jewish infants one of the most delightful jobs Ihave ever done, and quite the most exhausting,’ says Margaret Dalziel in her new series of talks, Teaching in London’s East End, which describe her experiences in an East-End Jewish infant school. The tiredness, Miss Dalziel ex-
plains, was not all the fault of, the infants. All the same, they were more wearing than most. But on the other side of the picture, she shows that once they were convinced that it was easier and pleasanter to try to learn something than to continue the struggle against order, they were quick, responsive, affectionate-and ‘pathetic in the ease with which they could be pleased and interested by the simplest devices. The first of these talks will be heard in Topics for Women from 4YA at 11.0 a.m. on Monday, May 19.
