(Ealing) FROM what I saw of it I thought this the most depressing thing to come from Ealing in a long time. Balcon produced it, Basil Dearden directed, and there are some glittering Wordsworthian shots of London on a sunny Sunday morning, but the story tries to blend an improbable tale of murder and diamond-smuggling with an embarrassingly self-conscious treatment of the colour problem. I writhed in vicarious discomfort and finally crept quietly away with a pain in my stomach. SO ET TS ---- -- ->
