Kindergarten of the Air
‘THE suggestion that neighbours could _ make Kindergarten of the Air more like a real kindergarten by taking turns in having children from two or more families in their homes for the session is made in a letter from a country listener received by Jean Combs, Supervisor of Schools Broadcasts .and Children’s Programmes. It is one of many suggestions Miss Combs has had, and she thinks it is-a particularly good one. This listener, who describes the session as a "long waited for pleasure for the four-year-olds in the country," thinks that children who have no friends nearby or brothers or sisters would find their favourite doll a good companion when listening; and she tells how her little girl’s "knitted Teddy called Percy" has to join in the session and do all the walking and clapping of hands-and is told to keep quiet and listen to the story. All the comments received by letter. and phone giving children’s reactions, criticisms and suggestions have been very welcome, Miss Combs says, and she hopes more parents of children who listen to the session will let her have their views,
