MOTHER'S MORNINGS
OULD not consideration be given to the time set aside for home educational programmes for children? The correspondence school, the school holiday programmes, and now "Kindergarten of the Air," all come over from 9.0 to 9.30 a.m. In the latter, mother is constantly appealed to by the compere, to "do this, or do that, please mother." : 1 can’t conceive of any New Zealand housewife and mother of young children wanting to take time off at that hour of the morning for such pastimes, particularly on a Monday. The little ones will probably have been popped out on the sunporch or lawn while she catches up with week-end cleaning. A little later, when relaxation over a cup of tea is in sight, and the small fry have worked off initial exuberance, would, to the practical "mind, seem a much better time. Also, there is a very powerful and, especially to the mother of young children and of children isolated enough to use correspondence lessons, an extremely helpful session on the air from the commerciaf stations at this time. Either mother or child must miss useful material. Why? MUST the children’s
] sessions take that particular half-hour?
