HERE, THERE AND EVERYWHERE
FISH, FOWL AND FOREIGN LANDS, by J. D. Greenway; Faber and Faber. English ptice, 12/6. ; : HERE is nothing flat or insipid about this book except the title. The author, who is currently British Minister to Panama, would probably describe himself as first a fisherman, but he writes for everyone and he has as good an eye for people and places as he has for water. There is much in his style to remind one of old Lord Frederick Hamilton; he has the same urbanity and good humour, and he has observed men, places and events from much the same privileged position. He has fished nearly everywhere except New Zealand, which he visited in the winter months, but he has one or two shrewd intuitions about angling here, and one paragraph (page 33) that might be read with profit by our publicists. os
