Wairarapa Round Table
‘THE mobile recording unit of the NZBS recently spent a few busy days in Masterton, and the results will be heard from 2YA at 8.20 p.m. on the third Monday of every month, starting on December 19 when Wairarapa Round Table will bé on the air. In these discussions the NZBS hopes to give listeners, through the panel members, an idea of what people in rural centres are thinking, and how they are reacting to questions which affect us whether we live in town or country. Questions such as "What are your chief objections to nationalisation?" will be answered by William Kemp, the Mayor of Masterton; N. R. Cunningham, a manufacturer and president of Masterton Rotary; L. T. Daniell, a farmer; and S. V. Gooding, a borough councillor. The second panel-G. G. Hancox, headmaster of Wairarapa College; Archie Keir, deputy Mayor of Masterton; R. A. C, Selby, a business man; and R. M. Perry, a stud sheep farmer-will be heard on January 16, when they will
bend their attention to the questions, "How can we give the greatest help to rural housewives, especially mothers?" and "What sort of an education does a farmer need-high school, university, or just staying on with Dad?"
The third panel comprises J. A. Betts, Chairman of the Masterton Licensing Trust and War Memorial Committee, J. Jameson, a farmer and business man; E. G. Coddington, Headmaster of the Masterton Central School; and E. W.
Cheetham, a farmer and county councillor. They will be heard on February 20. The fourth and last panel, the members of which were drawn from the other three, will be heard on March 20. The chairman in each case is Peter Green.
