Pre-Election Addresses

THE first radio addresses in the 1949 election campaign are being broadcast this week by the Prime Minister (at 8.0 p.m, on Tuesday, October 25) and the Leader of the Opposition (at 8.0 p.m. on Thursday, October 27). During each succeeding week until November 30 listeners will be able to hear election addresses at the following times: At 8.0 p.m. on Mondays and Tuesdays, public addresses by Labour and National candidates alternately will be relayed by 2YA and the local station concerned. On Fridays and Saturdays, studio addresses will be broadcast from the YA and YZ stations, starting at 6.45 p.m. One National and one Labour candidate will-speak on each of these nights, each address lasting for 15 minutes on Fridays, and for 30 minutes on Saturdays. The campaign will conclude with an address by the Leader of the Opposition on Monday, November 28, and one by the Prime Minister on Tuesday, November 29.
