MORE POWER TO 2XG
HE ceremony to mark the increase of power at Station 2XG Gisborne was held on October 15, in the presence of the Minister- of Broadcasting (Hon. F. Jones) and*the Director (Mr. W. Yates). Other speakers were T. Omana, Member for Eastern Maori, C. G. Harker, M.P..for Hawke’s Bay, N. H. Bull, Mayor of Gisborne, and E. H. Baker, Chairman of the Cook County Council. A recording of a speech by D. W. Coleman, M.P. for Gisborne, who was unable to attend because of ill-health, was also broadcast. All speakers stressed the satisfaction that the increased power of 2XG would bring to listeners in the Poverty Bay area. During the evening local artists presented a two-hour programme which reached a high standard of pérformance, after which the Minister. entertained a gathering of 80 guests in the studios. i eealinietemetindieemneeinetttote ~
