CITY ACROSS THE RIVER
(Universal-International) N spite of unevennesses in the acting, and some naiveté in the story, this is quite a worthy picture, dedicated to the proposition that where there are slums there, too, will you find juvenile delinquency. I thought I knew the worst about Brooklyn, but appdrently the worst had not been told. There is the usual crime-does-not-pay sub-theme, but many New Zealanders wil! find it difficult to avoid the conclusion that the American way of life does not always pay either.
