He was leader of the Salon Orchestra at the Metropole Hotel, London, while still in his "teens, and for six years broadcast with the orchestra. Mantovani left the Metropole to form his own orchestra at the Monsigneur Restaurant, Piccadilly. This was how his ‘‘Tipica" orchestra came into being, so-called because whatever the nationality of the music being played it was presented in a manner typical of the country of origin. At 6.15 to-night 4ZB will broadcast recordings by Mantovani and his coneert orchestra. _|i
