Coffee Percolator
Dear Aunt Daisy, My husband has presented me with an electric coffee percolator and I don’t know how to use it. Does one fill the container tightly with coffee grounds, or loosely to allow the water to filter through? How long are the grounds used before being thrown out?
Jean of Whangaret
There should have been directions issued with the percolator, The general rule is to use one heaped tablespoon of pure coffee for every breakfast cup ot water, It is quicker to start the percolator with hot water. When the water boils it is allowed to continue boiling and thus to percolate through the coffee for 5 to 10 minutes, according to the strerigth of infusion desired, Then throw saway the grounds. They are never used twice.
