4 18 always a pleasure to hear a complete performance of an extended musical composition, instead of having
it served in small portions with a wait of, say, a week between helpings. To further the metaphor, may I say here that it is not hearing one complete work at a time which gives listeners musical indigestion, but having to assimilate, in approximately the same period, a ragout of perhaps half-a-dozen different items with conflicting tastes and aromas. The Stabat Mater of Pergolesi (in which ,the Nottingham Oriana Choir has the invaluable support of the Boyd Neel Orchestra) was played by 4YC during the last hour of the evening’s transmission before closing
down. This was an hour of complete satisfaction, and timed quite correctly for, after hearing so exquisite a work of art, what else is there for the listener to do save turn the radio of "and so to
bed?%
