Pipe Band Championships
RECORDINGS made at the annual New Zealand Pipe Band Contest to be held in New Plymouth on Friday, Saturday; and Sunday, March 18, 19, and 20, will be broadcast. from 2YA soon after the events have been played. Bands from all over New Zealand will be in New Plymouth for the occasion’ this month, and as in. previous years, an NZBS Mobile Recording Unit will also be present. Recordings of each test will be made, and the winners and runnersup of the most important events (probably the A and B Grade tests) will be
sent to Wellington by service car so that they can be broadcast as soon as possible. 3 As we go to press, arrangements have been made for these broadcasts to be heard from 2YA at 7.30 p.m. on Saturday, March 19, and at 9.32 p.m. on Sunday, March 20, Later all the recordings made at the championships will be sent to the home towns of the bands concerned, where they will be broadcast from their local stations. In addition, the winners _will later be heard from the other main National stations,
