Film Unit Visits Station 2ZB
NE of the studios at 2ZB was turned for the time being into a film studio the other day when members of the National Film Unit arrived to make a sequence for inclusion in their story production, Journey: For Three. This film, which is being made primarily for exhibition in the United Kingdom, tells the story of three young immigrants who come to New Zealand under the assisted immigration scheme and of the day-to-day le and occasional excitements which they encounter in this country. Great care was taken by the director (Michael Forlong) in casting *the three principals, and several hundred immigrants were interviewed before any screen tests were made. The _ choice finally fell on Stuart’ Pilkington, a Londoner who goes to work at the Pukaki hydro-electric project, Margaret McNulty, an Edinburgh girl who becomes a nurse at Christchurch, and Elizabeth Armstrong, from Aberdeen, who gets a job in a North Island woollen mill. The picture (left) shows the last-named being directed in the filming of a ZB quiz session-no picture of life in New Zealand would, of course, be complete without that! 2
