CHAMBER MUSIC.

Sir,-The Wellington Chamber Music Society has over the past year invited to this country and organised tours for the Queensland State String Quartet and the Musica Viva Society from Sydney. Apart from fostering interest in chamber music and setting a ‘new standard, these players provided enjoyment to a wide range of listeners throughout the country. Neither of these tours could have been undertaken by our Society but for the generous and ‘understanding co-op-eration of the New Zealand Broadcasting Service. Only through the sympathetic hearing and practical help willingly given to us by the Director has it been possible for these tours to have taken place. The Committee of the Chamber Music Society wish, besides expressing their gratitude, to make known the help that they have received.

E. C.

SIMPSON

(Chairman, Wellington Chamber ; Music Society).
