His total winnings to date in various quiz contests heard over the NZBS are approximately £128. With him in the photograph are the other three finalists: From left to right, Miss M. Paul (Christchurch), E. R. Dearnley (Wellington), and Miss A. Woodhouse (Napier), who also won money prizes. ’ The quiz was the most ambitious oot held in New Zealand. Every province put up a team of four contestants and the eliminating contests were broadcast over all main National and Commercial Stations on Saturday nights from September 25 to October 30. In .towns with only one radio station, two teams met in that station’s studio to find the provincial representatives. The four competitors with the best scores then made up the team to represent the province in the next week’s round. Each round was an elimination test till, in the final round, four people were left to compete for the national title.
