HE rattle of German armour threatened the exist- ence of The Anglo-Iranian Oil Company in two great wars. But in 1914, as in 1939 the civilian army on the oil-fields kept on working kept on feeding the Fleet feeding Britain's Merchant Navy fuelling the Army and the Air Force.
