SHORTWAVE CONFERENCE
T Mexico City, apparently a favourite | spot for international discussion since | it was the venue of last November’s successful Unesco meeting, another international conference will be held during the next month or two-this time about high frequency broadcasting affairs. Delegates from practically all nations will be present, New Zealand being represented by the chief engineer of the
NZBS, W. L. Harrison, B.E., B.Sc., A.M.LE.E., and the chief engineer of the Post and Telegraph Department, E. H. R. Green, M.Scy M.LE.E. They left for Mexico by air on September 18, Discussions at the conference will centre "around the allocation of frequencies for shortwave broadcasting services throughout the world, and New Zealand is particularly concerned with the allotment of future frequencies to be used by Radio ‘New Zealand, the NZBS shortwave service which started operations this week. In the past, similar conferences have been held at about five-year as it became necessary to re-distribute | fairly amongst the nations the channels_ available for their expanding shortwave networks. At the present Mexico City conference delegates hope to clean up unfinished business left over from the international broadcasting conference held last year at Atlantic City. :
