One small teacup sugar; Y%lIb, butter or substitute; 1 egg; 2 tablespoons golden syrup; 2 cups flour; 2 tablespoons cocoa; 1 teaspoon baking soda; 1 cup milk; 1 teaspoon baking powder; essence to favour. Lastly add the baking powder, and bake in a moderate oven for % of an hour, Keeps well. Icing: Heat slowly 2 tablespoons sugar; 1 tablespoon cocoa; and 2 tablespoons of water.
