"Colonel Britton" Goes to New York
N the early days of resistance to German domination, "Colonel Britton" became a legendary figure to the peoples of the occup‘ed countries. His was the radio voice, broadcasting in the BBC’s European Service, which advised, informed, and gave confidence to the rapidly growing numbers of those who had the courage to tune in to London. Douglas Ritchie, who served throughout the war in the European Service of the BBC, has a place in history as "Colonel Britton." He has now been appointed Radio and Press Officer of the British Information Services in the United States, and has already taken up his duties in New York.
