"Tag the Apple"

A NOVEL studio show has begun at 4ZB, called "Tag the Apple." Competitors in this new quizz session are confronted by a large cardboard apple without a stalk; then they are blindfolded and asked to fit the missing stalk into its rightful place. If the stalk fits, they collect two cases of apples; if the stalk goes into the wrong place they still have a chance to win, for the apple then opens up, revealing four quarters containing "Household Hints," "True or False" questions, "Ask the Announcer" problems, and "Yes-No Jackpots." A question from the quarter nearest the point where they have stuck the stalk is selected and if they answer this correctly they win q case of apples. If the question comes from the quarter labelled "Ask the Announcer," then the announcer and not the competitor must answer the question; and if he can’t, it is still the competitor who collects the case of apples. "Tag the Apple" is scheduled for eight broadcasts extending over one month, being conducted from 4ZB on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons at 1.45. Music from the ZB’s HREE new musical shows have now begun at the ZB stations. "Two Tunes at a Time," the new programme at 4ZB, is based on the idea that two tunes can be played at the same time in perfect harmony. Thea Ryan at the ano and Eric Bell at the Novachord prove this theory by their simultaneous rendering of such popular melodies as "Down South" and "Ukelele Lady." "Two Tunes at a Time" is presented on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday mornings at 10.15. "Popular Melodies, Old and New," the new show from 2ZB each Saturday evening at 10.30, comprises 30 minutes of contrasts in song and music, and is presented as supper-time music for theatre-goers. The latest musical show to take the air from 2ZB is entitled "With the Tenors" and is heard each Thursday evening at 8.45. A 15minute programme, it features tenors who have become famous in opera, musical-comedy, films, and radio.
