ing" is the general title of an important series of BBC talks on questions raised by the war, and preparations for the peace, to be presented from 4YA, beginning on Sunday, March 19, with other stations to follow. The series includes a notable list of representative figures in British church life. : The opening speaker will be the Archbishop of Canterbury (Dr. Temple), who discusses the crisis faced by Western civilisation. In successive talks, five other prominent speakers will deal with special phases of the general issues raised by Dr. Temple, their aim being to assist in forming opinion upon the basis of a just and lasting peace. "Spiritual Issues" is the subject taken by the Very Rev. J. Hutchison Cockburn, D.D., whose visit to the United States in 1942 was an outstanding feature of his term as Moderator of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland. The Rev. whose subject will be "Spiritual Resistance," regularly broadcasts in Britain a programme called "Christian News and Commentary." "Conscience in War-time" is discussed by Dr. J. H. Oldham, Secretary of the Council of Christian Faith. He holds the opinion that if we embark on war we must not shrink from the consequences of our decision. Dr: Oldham also deals with punishment for war crimes. "Looking Ahead: The Pope’s 1939 Peace Points" is the title of a talk by the Most Rev. Thomas Leighton Williams, Roman Catholic Bishop of Birmingham. Anglican and Free Churches in Britain accepted the principles of these five peace points in December, 1940, as the true basis on which a lasting peace can be established. "Looking Ahead: Some Principles of Reconstruction," by the late Rev. William Paton, D.D., discusses the principles of reconstruction set out by a Commission of the Federal Council of Churches of the United States of America, defining six/points as the ideals to be followed in securing a just and durable peace. ;
