E have received information through the High Commissioner for Canada that John Grierson has relinquished the position of General Manager of the Wartime Information Board at Ottawa, but will continue as special adviser. In a statement on the subject, the Prime Minister of Canada (Mr. W. L. McKenzie King), explains that Mr.
Grierson accepted the position of General Manager of the Information Board on the understanding that he would be allowed to retire at the end of six months and return to active management of the Government Film Board. However, at the Government’s special request, the arrangement was extended for a further six months, making the period a year altogether, and the year expires at the end of the present month. An article on Mr. Grierson’s work appeared in The Listener of October 24, 1941, and many listeners will remember his visit to New Zealand about that time, and his arresting broadcasts.
