AN IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT ABOUT MISCUITS Because biscuits play a vital part in the feed- ing of the Fighting Forces, the New Zealand Biscuit Manufacturers mentioned below have been, for the past two-and-half years, prim- arily engaged on war orders, producing a specially nutritious type of biscuit in quantities never previously contemplated: Since the beginning of the War the Biscuit Industry has produced 38,030 tons (85,187,200 Ibs:) of biscuits for war purposes And a further 15,000 tons (33,600,000 Ibs.) have been ordered for 1944. Pre-war the industry produced about 9,000 tons of biscuits per annum, but by working shifts and over- time the workers in the Biscuit factories have increased production to over 20,000 tons per annum (44,800,000 Ibs.) . Because the needs of the Forces must come first, very few bis- cuits have been, or will be, manufactured meantime for civilian consumption: The undersigned Biscuit Manufacturers know that the public will gladly make the tem- porary sacrifice called for, and assure them that full supplies of biscuits will be placed on the market again when circumstances permit: AULSEBROOK & Co.
