Isles are busy learning, now, To go ahead like other Places; By Dozens they already know The Blessedness of being Bases. Grand Strategy can teach them More Than all the Centuries before. T’S futile to expatiate On vanished Idylls, or lament, As if such Things should not occur Without one’s Knowledge and Consent; But, trade and travel as we will, An Island is an Island still: FM anxious as the Next Man to Develop the Pacific Ocean. But Politicians’ Views thereon I study with a mixed Emotion. Why must they so fast, so far? » I like my Islands nsular! -_----4
