BYWAYS OF MUSIC
Sir-If "A.W.T.". will look up the 1942 H.M.V.-Columbia gramophone catalogue he will find under the heading Columbia History of Music Volume V., Dua for Two Violins by Haba, and Octandre by Varése. I will leave it to him to look up the record numbers. I will not waste The Listener's space by asking "A.W.T."
to trot out according to his "challenge" 12 composers mentioned by "Marsyas" but unknown to "A.W.T."-any music library will help him-but would suggest that if his interest is as great as his letters he would do better for himself and for music by making the most of the stimulation that critical writings such as "Marsyas" can give. Anyhow, when are we going to have some more "Marsvas’? Soon rlease!
