‘THE Sta: American dance bands, which used to be on the air on Monday nights, are now included in the Saturday night dance session which takes the air at 10.30 p.m. from 2ZB. This programme is designed to include the latest dance hits from the United States and is appreciated accordingly. as tk * NOTHER evening programme of a different nature is the programme "Hymns of all Nations" which comes on the air from 2ZB on Tuesday evenings at 10.15. The singing is that of Joe Emerson and his choir and the hymns are chosen from old favourites from all over the world. 1 % * F. the housewives of the Manawatu have time to sit down with a cup of tea after they have seen the family off to work: and ‘to school, they will hear a programme chosen especially and called "Housewives’ Half Hour." This is just a programme of selected recordings chosen principally from well known musical comedies, and made by such performers as Peter Dawson, Nelson Eddy, Gladys Moncrieff, Deanna Durbin and others. And even if you have not time for that cup of tea you may still be able to: listen while you work to 2ZA on week-days at 9 a.m. oK * ae HREE new features have recently started at 2ZA Palmerston North. They are "Hollywood Radio Theatre" at 8.5 p.m..on Tuesdays. "The American Challenge" at 8.5 p.m. on Thursdays, and "Josephine". at 7.15 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays. .The first two. are American productions, but "Josephine" is an all New Zealand programme. It was written by Frank Kenyon of Auckland, acted by Wellington artists and produced by Bryan O’Brien, in» the studios of the CBS: It is a dramatised version of the love story of Napoleon and Josephine. % * x "THURSDAY evening is scout evening in the 2ZB children’s session. Every second Thursday scout troops provide a session of music, singing and general entertainment, and on alternate Thursdays the different troops in Wellington compete in a quizz dealing solely with questions. on scouting and scout law. Points are allotted, and naturally every scout is busy studying every possible question 00 shat nig troop amey win. WING is what you make it, says announcer Ron Walton of 4ZB’s swing session. Swing fans may listen to’ this special session for their benefit which is heard from 4ZB every Monday at 10.30 p.m.; then 1ZB’s Suppertime Interlude runs for the benefit of late workers every night at 11.15. It may not be the end of a perfect day, but listeners who are working like to og ‘the radio tell them’ that it ‘might * Vee ; ZB broadcast an unusual programme the other day from the Children’s’ Permanent Health Camp at Roxburgh, Otago: The ‘relay was handled by Bob Pollard and Peter of 4ZB and it included interviews with the matron, staff and doctor, and their descriptions of the. dormitories, play rooms, swimming pool. and surroundings of the. camp. .
