INSTRUMENTS urgently needed by THE NAVY The Navy is in urgent need of instruments and anyone baving in their possession any of those listed below, are asked to lend, donate or 8 Fn sell them. The need is urgent. Sextants (Navigational): Hack or Deck Watches. Sextants (Sounding) Pocket Chronometers. Azimuth Mirrors for Compasses: Stop Watches (30 minute type) Station Pointers. Aneroid Barometers (Marine type) Parallel Rulers. Engine Room Clocks with large second hand Dividers, 5in. to 7in. Ships Charthouse Clocks. Protractors, 4in. to 8in. radius: Theodolites. The above instruments are to be packed and addressed to the Naval Oficer in Charge, the package to be marked "Naval instrument, fragile" and taken to the nearest Post Office, where & receipt will be issued and the package forwarded by the Post Office to the nearest Naval Depot. The instruments listed below are required but cannot be sent through the post. Owners in the main centres are requested to deliver them by hand to the Naval Oficer in Charge at Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch Dunedin Residents in country districts are requested to write to the Navy Secretary, Naval Head- quarters, Wellington, setting out particulars to enable the Naval Authorities to errange inspection and collection:_ Compasses (Ships ) Compasses (Boats ) Chronometers (Ships ), mounted in gimbals and case Instruments will be accepted from the public on the following basis: (a) Outright donation: (b) On loan to the Service for the duration of the war, when every endeavour will be made to return the articles to their owners if they have not been damaged or destroyed by enemy action.
