UR cover picture this week is of O General Sir C. J. E. Auchinleck, CB, CSI, DSO, OBE. former Commander-in-Chief in India, who has been appointed Com-mander-in-Chief, Middle East, in place of General Sir Archibald Wavell, who has become C.-in-C. India, In Cairo he will work in conjunction with Captain Oliver Lyttelton, Minister of State, representing the War Cabinet. General Auchinleck, who is 57 years of age, served in Egypt and Mesopotamia during the last War and has held many posts in the Indian Army. Before his appointment to command in India, he was G.-O.-C., Southern Command.
