a high wind that made conditions anything but pleasant, 4000 people climbed to the top of Mount Victoria, Wellington, to take part in this year’s Easter Sunday Dawn Service. Owing to military restrictions, the service could not be held on the southern shoulder of the hill, where it was held last year, nor was a cross erected. The address was given by the Rev. Percy Paris (Methodist), and the service was conducted by the Rev. Harry Squires, Wellington City Missioner. A silver band conducted by A. Iremonger accompanied the singing. * a BROADCASTING from all ZB Stations every Wednesday afternoon in the Home Service session is Dr. Muriel ‘Bell, formerly assistant to the Professor of Physiology at Otago University, and now nutrition expert in the Department of Health. Dr. Bell was heard in, the Man in the Street session last January, when the CBS controller, C. G. Scrimgeour, launched a radio health crusade. * * . ' A 16-YEAR-OLD schoolgirl, Marie Wilson, is the only remaining member of the original class in Station 3ZB’s Information Please session. Competing against adults, she has put up a record which does credit to her wide general knowledge. She was one of the four most successful competitors in the Askit Basket session which preceded Information, Please! Marie is a pupil at the Christchurch Girls’ High School, where she is taking a professional course. She reads widely, whith may explain her success at 3ZB, her favourites being historical. novels, travel, politics and autobiography. Her family and school friends have been following her progress in Information, Please! with a good deal of interest, she says. K * * UT of the mouths of babes . . . comes very often a lot of sound common sense. This’ has -been well demonstrated in 4ZB’s Children’s Forum, which is broadcast in the children’s session every Thursday. Compéred by Jimmie McFarlane, teams of four children condu¢t discussions on a_ pre-selected subject. Originally the children spoke impromptu, but now all scripts are prepared in advance, entries therefore being judged on content rather than on ability to think quickly when talking impromptu. Small prizes are awarded. * * * ‘ PETER Morgan’s' Family, the feature now playing from 3ZB, was written, produced, acted and recorded in Christchurch, It is described as having family appeal spiced with adventyre and laughs. The cast, which includes several well known . Christchurch repertory players, comprises Robinson Hall, yn wt dalen Hall, Nancy Nicholson, Audrey Cotterill, Douglas Dall, and Boyd Calloway. It is compéred by T. Tothill. Mr. Dall has produced plays over 4YA, Dunedin, and is a former secretary of the British Drama League. Peter Morgan’s Family is heard at 7.45 p.m, every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. if spite of bitter wintry weather and .
