At the age of four he made his first appearance at Naples, and a year later played a varied rogramme at the 1900 Paris Exhibition. en sixteen hé entered the famous pianoforte school of Karl Leimar, in Hanover. He made such progress that he received a grant from the State. to pursue his studies, and from 1913-14 recitals of Chopin, Schumann, Liszt, and Beethoven ‘were arranged at the Leimar Conservatorium for him, where he played before large audiences.
