Anne Stewart's Travelogue

The whole world is Anne Stewart’s oyster in the "Musical Travelogue" which she is presenting from the ZB Stations. Public and domestic architecture, interior decoration, on which she is an authority, the arts, crafts, music and other features of interest of many countries, are all touched on. Station 4ZB listeners, for instance, were recently taken on a trip to the ancient city of Canton, busiest river port of South China, a city where western civilisation has made hardly a mark on the life of the Chinese there. For Canton is still a city of quaint streets, old shops decorated with painted dragons, and hanging lamps, a city of strange eastern noises and of life that is lived just as it was centuries ago. Russia, Hungary, Rumania, Spain, Holland, Greece, are other countries visited. A feature of the travelogue is the national music played, many of the recordings having never before been played over the air in New Zealand. "Musical Travelogue" is heard from all ZB Stations at 7.45 p.m. every Saturday.
