When seventeen years old he applied for a place in the ‘" Schola Cantorum" of the famous Sistine Chapel of St. Peter’s, Rome, then under the direction of Maestro Pérosi. Gigli eventually entered the celebrated Conservatoire of St, Cecelia to complete his musical education.
